The Ruined-Childhood Cinematic Universe
Mario, an Italian-American Brooklyn plumber, has a mental disability (mostly fueled by his addiction to halogenic mushrooms) in which he thinks he is a brave knight in a fantasy world. His brother Luigi, friends, and "princess" Peach (Mario's girlfriend) all play along to keep Mario at peace with himself. But when Peach's ex husband, a wealthy construction corporation CEO named Bowser, has Peach abducted, Mario uses his athletic skills and fantasy-world drug illusions to find her, making him a dangerous (and wanted) urban threat in the process.
