In a legendary desert city powered by ancient astronomy, a brilliant princess who would rather build telescopes than hold court must team up with a cynical sand-scavenger to reboot the cosmos when the stars above their kingdom begin to vanish. Astraea is a breathtaking "oasis city" built into the sheer sandstone cliffs of a massive canyon. It is a civilization based on a fantasy version of the Islamic Golden Age of science. The city is renowned for glass-blowing, clockwork automata, and complex astronomy. The city is powered by the Celestial Sphere, a massive, intricate mechanism at the palace's center that reflects real starlight down into the city using mirrors, powering their technology and lighting their nights. The problem: A strange, velvety purple "star-fog" is creeping across the night sky, blotting out constellations and causing Astraea's machinery to fail.
