Unlike George Orwell's 1984 and V for Vendetta, A joint Anglo-American production by Paramount Pictures film matches the description of an alternate history where Oswald Mosley becomes a dictator and ousts King Edward VIII, based on the scenario closely resembles several prominent works of alternate history which inspires by COVID-19 pandemic in Britain back in 2020. Oswald Mosley had become Prime Minister and established a totalitarian dictatorship in a "dystopian" Britain during the 1930s, the United Kingdom would have likely morphed into a corporatist, surveillance-heavy state, potentially collaborating with Nazi Germany in a "New European Order" while avoiding direct involvement in a major continental war (WW2) in the 1940s and 1950s. He suspend parliamentary democracy, using a secret police force (similar to the Gestapo) to eliminate opposition, including communists, socialists, and liberal critics.
