The Sith is an American science fiction television series set in the Star Wars universe and based on the fictional Sith Empire, a powerful and malevolent organization. The Sith Empire has ruled the galaxy for centuries in the universe where the series takes place, and it focuses on the struggles and lives of many characters as they make their way through the perilous and convoluted political system of the Empire. Sith Lords, Jedi Knights, smugglers, bounty hunters, and other galactic inhabitants are among the series' wide ensemble of characters. Young Sith apprentice Zara, who is divided between her loyalty to the Empire and her mounting skepticism about its true character, serves as the series' main protagonist. Along with Zara, the show also chronicles the adventures of a number of other characters, including the bounty hunter Kael, the Jedi Knight Selene, and the smuggler Jax, each of whom has a distinctive viewpoint on life in the Sith Empire.
