Their confrontation ends with Erik shattering Rurik’s cursed axe, breaking the cycle of bloodshed but forever marked by the horrors he’s seen. Erik, scarred and hollow, returns to his village. The people shrink from him, sensing the darkness clinging to his soul. At the shoreline, he casts the shattered axe into the sea—yet the crashing waves whisper his name, a promise that the horrors he escaped have not finished with him.
