Stanley Ipkiss, a miserable, meek, nerdy bank-teller is always being pushed around by his boss, his landlady, and pretty much everyone else in society. But one day, he comes across a powerful ancient mask belonging to Loki, and puts it on, turning into a violent serial killer known as "Big Head", or "The Mask" to determined police lieutenant Mitch Kellaway. As the bodies start piling up, its up to Mitch, Stanley's ex-girlfriend Katherine and a new detective to stop him.
