The 2023 The Little Mermaid is a live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1989 animated classic, featuring (Vanessa Hudgens) as Ariel, a mermaid princess who trades her voice to the sea witch Ursula (Meryl Streep) after her father destroyed her treasur King Triton, (Paul Levesque) to become human and join (Ben Barnes) Prince Eric, (Jacob L. I. Hodapp) voice of Sebastian, on land. Directed by Jacob L. I. Hodapp, and Rob Marshall, it explores themes of self-discovery and forbidden love, incorporating original music by Alan Menken and new songs. The 1989 Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid follows Ariel, youngest daughter mermaid princess of the sea king she's fascinated with the human world. After rescuing Prince Eric from a shipwreck and falling in love, she strikes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula, trading her voice for legs to win his love
