At the height of America's Roaring Twenties, Nick Carraway, an ambitious stockbroker, moves into a cozy cottage on Long Island in pursuit of the elusive "American Dream," and winds up befriending his mysterious, self-made millionaire neighbor, Jay Gatsby. However, as Nick finds himself drawn into fabulous Gatsby's world of decadence and extravagance, he soon becomes entangled in an impossible love triangle forged by Gatsby's unrequited passion for Daisy Buchanan, Nick's married, sad-eyed cousin. Now, overpowering impulses and fervent desires can only spell trouble, paving the way for bitter heartbreak, tragedy, and lost dreams.
