The year 1353. In a small village in England there is the only church in the area. Near it lives a woman named Abigail who deals with herbalism with the help of which she heals local people. The pastor and the monks accuse her of practicing witchcraft. They burn her garden, her house and kidnap her with the intention of burning her at the stake. She manages to escape, but is forced to seek shelter as the best soldiers are sent in pursuit.
