Arthur Light began his career as a S.T.A.R. Labs scientist, working alongside Jacob Finlay. Finlay developed light-manipulating technology in secret with the objective of using it to fulfill his dream and become a superhero, but Light was involved in industrial espionage against S.T.A.R. for a rival tech firm. In his first outing as a superhero, Finlay discovered Light's criminal activities. The following day, as a result of storing his equipment in the terminal for the computer console in his lab, Finlay caused the console to short-circuit and project a beam of laser-light that disintegrated him on the spot.
