The year is 2006. Following a brief hiatus from acting, Ben Affleck makes his comeback to Hollywood's good graces by directing and starring in the remake of the 2002 Hong Kong classic 'Infernal Affairs'. The movie, which also fictionalizes real life incidents involving the infamous Boston Winter Hill Gang, is a runaway success, securing Oscar nominations for Best Director & Best Supporting Actor (Renner).
