Jake Filler was an Asian-Canadian teenager at a high-school dance with his childhood friend Sam Wilbur, where the students were allowed to bring their parents as well. But then suddenly the crowd around him entered a state of panic, pushing past each other to escape something. Overwhelmed by the screaming, he attempted to find Sam and his parents, only to find Sam standing over them, having killed them, causing Jake to develop something from the trauma. Years later as an adult, Jake still thinks about night. Gaining millions of minds within his possibly due to supernatural means, Jake fights crime with his smarts and the wisdom of the million other minds within his as The Dark Mind.
