Derrick is a uncle in his late 30's. When Derrick's older brother Jared was expecting his first child, and Derrick was expecting to go to a high ranked University, Derrick dropped out last minute to move in with his brother in his brother's big home. Derrick goes onto pursue his "dream job" that is supposedly a bunch of cold stone shop's he owns. In his 30's while living with Jared and his new family of 4, he makes a big mistake that puts the family in danger and is then kicked out. When Derrick is informed by his father that his nephew is working at his same job currently, he uses this to warm his way back into his brother's families heart.
