In 1992, Brandon Lee was first offered the lead role of Eric Draven before Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise were considered for the role and he decided to play the role for the film but James O'Barr (author of The Crow) refused because he thought that if Brandon played the lead role for the film, it would turn into a martial arts film. But Brandon eventually convinced O'Barr and he was eventually chosen.
