A descendant of Sir Percy of Scandia, one of King Arthur’s most trusted knights, Dane Whitman was raised by his uncle Nathaniel Garrett, who told him of the curse upon their family and the Ebony Blade- the source of it. All the members of their family are drawn to the power of the Ebony Balde, which draws upon its wielder’s blood lust and makes them almost vampire like in their need to kill. Merlyn forged the weapon out of a meteor of Uru along with multiple other items (goblet, scepter, and shield). Dane has avoided the sword his whole life to not become like his uncle who was corrupted with the power and killed by Union Jack after he went on a killing spree. But Dane takes the blade out of hiding to try and find Sersi after she was taken by Arishem. Before he unleashes the curse of the sword he is warned by Eric Brooks aka Blade the Vampire Hunter who helps train Dane to properly use a sword. Dane, in an attempt to find Sersi when she could be anywhere in the universe, goes to Percy’s castle that was passed down to him but he avoided along with the blade.
