"Mumblecore" is a style of low-budget film typically characterized by the use of naturalistic or improvised performances and often non-professional actors. Although brief the movement has been influential beyond the world of indie film with some of it's practitioners finding notable Hollywood success. The directors and actors most associated with the movement include Andrew Bujalski, Jay and Mark Duplass, Greta Gerwig, Joe Swanberg, Katie Aselton, Azazel Jacobs, Aaron Katz, Lena Dunham, Lynn Shelton, Alex Karpovsky, and Ronald Bronstein.
