Ryan Gosling plays Alex and Scarlett Johansson plays Lara, a married couple living in a small suburban town. They both seem like normal humans, but they each have a secret: they are actually aliens from a distant planet. They've been living on Earth for years, trying to blend in and live a normal life.
One day, they both discover that their alien race is planning to invade Earth. Alex and Emily both want to stop the invasion, but they're afraid to reveal their true identities to each other. They each try to secretly thwart the invasion, but their actions begin to raise suspicions.
