After a fight with his mentor over his growing paranoia over what happened to the Joker, Dick Grayson leaves Gotham City in search of his own path. With several heroes dying or being incapacitated in some way, Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon assemble a team of younger heroes to defend Earth from the inevitable oncoming threat. Now passing through Nightwing and Oracle, the two recruit Donna, Supergirl, Miss Martian, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Raven. At the same time, Starfire ends up on Earth and joins the team in the battle against Harvest, who is sent by Darkseid specifically to eliminate a rise of younger heroes. Martian Manhunter, Flash and Green Arrow appear as brief mentors before becoming involved in a separate incident, forcing the team to deal with Harvest on their own. Harvest is killed by Raven in a momentary lapse of control, a plot point to be expanded along the line. Dr. Elias mentions STAR Labs, on Barbara's computer some references indicate a possible formation of Birds of Prey, Other cities in the DC universe are referenced like Gotham, Metropolis, Coast, and Keystone. Vertigo and Wildstorm Comics is seen as the company that made a lot of super heroes comic books.
