Years ago, Dick Grayson, Roy Harper, and Wally West met by chance. They teamed up and defeated Doctor Light, sending him to prison. Since then, the three have had regular meetings. In the present day, with the formation of the League and this new era of heroes, Dick has the idea of a new team, with younger heroes inspired by the Justice League. He arranges to meet with Wally and Roy. At the same time, Dick meets Donna Troy, Wonder Woman's apprentice, while Wally meets Garth, Aquaman's apprentice. The five meet and quickly bond, but are still uncertain about forming something like the Justice League. However, the meeting is interrupted when Doctor Light, who escaped from prison, attacks the young heroes to get revenge on the three who put him in prison. Now, the five must unite not only as a team, but as friends, a family, and most importantly, a new generation of heroes.
