Samuel Lane, a career military man, always wanted a son, but got two daughters instead, and thus was originally resentful of his children, treating them like soldiers instead of kids, even going as far as putting them through extensive combat training. He eventually grew to love his daughters, working to try to repair the brittle bond between them, and has come to accept that Lois will not follow in his footsteps, regardless of his wishes. Sam helps Lois with her investigation into Intergang, as well as tries to repair the sisterhood between Lois and Lucy. He also equips Lois with a gun, and tells her to be careful with the investigation as it's connected to some very dangerous people.
