Maxima, the oldest child of the Royal family of the now destroyed planet of Almerac, is Mongul’s second champion. She tells Superman of her past; how she was arranged to be married for political reasons, but fled the planet, and when she returned, it had been conquered and ruined by Mongul. She tried to fight, but was captured and forced to work at Mongul's side. Superman promises that she will not have to stand with the murderer of her people any longer. She becomes infatuated with Superman, both for his physical attributes, but also his clear unwavering determination. She attempts to convince Superman to not only overthrow Mongul, but take his place, and rule Warworld with Maxima.
