In a final twist, Harker is revealed to be Mark from the future of an alternate timeline. While raising a family with Anya, Future Mark fails to prevent the Creature, a malevolent entity, from destroying humanity. The Creature tracked down and killed Anya and her children despite their attempts to flee. Sending himself back in time, Future Mark, adopting the name "Harker," seized control of the Seven Sons, using their resources to prepare his past self for the future to come. Mark denounces Harker's memory but recognizes that his actions have given his life a new purpose.
