Koriand'r was the younger daughter of the King of Tamaran, beloved by her people. Her older sister, Komand'r, was crippled by a childhood illness, which denied her the ability to fly—a trait essential for inheriting the throne. Because of this, Komand'r was passed over, fueling a deep hatred for her sister. Komand'r betrayed her planet by allying with the Citadel, a group of alien conquerors. To ensure peace, the rulers of Tamaran turned Koriand'r over to the Citadel, who imprisoned her for six years, subjecting her to torture and abuse. Until Koriand'r escaped from her prison and traveled far beyond in galaxy while avoiding being captured by her sister and Citadel.
