Curt's reptilian alter ego, when forced to take an untested test sample by the Goblin, initially becomes an uncontrolled creature, but retaining memories of his loved ones. Norman forces him to make an attack on the Avengers, but Spiderman manages to save everyone. In the end, with the help of Bruce Banner, he manages to control his reptilian alter ego and regain consciousness, becoming a recurring ally of Spider-Man.
