As graduation approaches and college decisions loom, Peter dreams of a future where he can live openly and attend college with Gwen. However, his responsibilities as Spider-Man continue to pull him away from the life he wants, placing increasing strain on their relationship. Meanwhile, brilliant scientist Dr. Otto Octavius leads a groundbreaking energy experiment that ends in catastrophe, fusing him to his mechanical arms and slowly warping his mind. Becoming Doctor Octopus, Otto wages war on the city and targets Spider-Man, whom he blames for his downfall. During a brutal confrontation, Doc Ock deliberately uses Gwen as leverage, leading to her tragic death and devastating Peter. Consumed by grief and doubt, Peter nearly gives up being Spider-Man, but ultimately chooses to honor Gwen’s faith in him. In a final battle, Spider-Man defeats Doc Ock, enrolling into Empire State University stepping into adulthood forever changed by loss but resolute in his responsibility to protect New York City.
