Rouge initially didn't care about anything but gems, so she began to walk away from helping them. But then Manic, who developed a crush on her, made her a deal that she can have the Chaos Emerald he had in his pocket AFTER she helps them. Eventually, Rouge kept her end of the deal at the end of this, but Manic gave her a normal emerald.
