But when Eggman woke him up, he was tricked into thinking Sonic and his Freedom Fighter friends are connected to the people that killed Maria. That filled him with so much rage and fury that he decides to make Sonic feel his pain and almost killed Uncle Chuck! It would have to take a betrayal from Eggman to make Shadow see the truth.
