In a world where the colors of the sky are vanishing, people have stopped noticing. Scientists warn that in six months, the sky will turn permanently gray—an unexplained phenomenon called The Dim. Silas, a struggling musician in New Orleans, feels the loss deeply. Ever since his mother’s passing, he has seen the world in muted shades, both literally and figuratively. His music, once vibrant, is now listless, drowned in melancholic jazz. Enter Marin, a young astronomer obsessed with light, who believes she’s found the last place in America where a true sunset will appear before the colors fade forever. She posts an anonymous message online: "If you want to see the sky before it forgets, meet me at Mile Marker 127. The road is long, but the light is still waiting." Silas sees the message. And for the first time in years, he feels something close to hope. Silas and Marin embark on a road trip westward, traveling across an America that is both hauntingly beautiful and quietly grieving.
