Flashlight was one of the nastiest drill sergeants in the Fireflight Academy, and was so serious that it's rumored that him smiling would plunge all of Skylands into ruin. Because he takes everything way too seriously, nobody would actually take him seriously. They thought that he overexaggerated everything and needed to lighten up—so much that they didn't even take his warnings of invading Wasp Warriors seriously! As the only one left to defend his homeland, Flashlight single-handedly drove the Wasp Warriors away. Hattie then invited him to be a Skylander, and rumor has it that he accepted mainly because her cracking a silly joke is what got him to smile for the first time.
