In the heyday of the War of Hope and Despair, Kaos was a portal master empowered by the Despair Bringer who sought nothing more than to conquer Skylands and plunge it into its ultimate doom, but lost his powers when the war concluded. Despite that, his desire for conquest laid deep within him, and after meeting and teaming up with Sacrament, has spent the past sixteen years finding a new way to regain his powers and begin his conquest—and after stumbling upon the Book of Dark Magic, believes he may have gotten his answer.
