During Strykore's boss fight in the previous game, Spyro and Stealth Elf were drained of their light, succumbing to the evil dark Portal Master's control and forcing Alfred to fight them. Lucky, they were freed from Strykore's control, but the dark form remaindled inside them, especially for Spyro. This transformation is triggered whenever Spyro gets angry, during the game, he must learn to fully control it.
