DreamWorks Animation has announced that "Shrek 5" will be released on July 1, 2026, with original cast members Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz returning. Directed by Walt Dohrn and co-directed by Brad Ableson, the film will continue the beloved franchise.

Donkey is a fictional character created by William Steig and adapted by DreamWorks Animation for the Shrek franchise. He is voiced primarily by Eddie Murphy. Donkey is an anthropomorphic donkey and his appearance is modeled after a miniature donkey named Perry.
