The Magi institute is a psychiatric hospital dedicated to helping people to gain "A full faculty recovery". Patients include the physically frail Mark Grayson, the burn victim and veteran Al Simmons, and the institute's biggest success story, police detective Sara Pezzini. But when a comic book artist named Ethan Crane begins sending letters and pictures to the patients of things that couldn't possibly be real, things go more than crazy. We live in the real world. Superheroes don't exist. And yet there are still dragons. There are still creatures spawned in the depths of hell. And there are those of us who are bulletproof. A shattered image is still an image.
