Septimus Heap, who is pronounced dead as baby, is the seventh son of the seventh son, which makes him magically gifted. After he is pronounced dead on the day of his birth, his father finds a violet-eyed baby girl whom the family takes in and raises as their own. On her tenth birthday the family embarks on an adventure, with some friend they meet along the way, to defeat the darkness and reunite their divided family.
