Synopsis

Photographer Andy Schroeder (Jared Leto) and oncologist Lucas Gardner (Aaron Eckhart) regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom. As the two men realize they've been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed "Jigsaw" and must complete his perverse puzzle to live, flashbacks relate the fates of his previous victims. Meanwhile, Dr. Gardner's wife (Heather Graham) and young daughter (Britt Robertson) are forced to watch his torture via closed-circuit video.

Description of Mephiles the Dark (Jigsaw Voice):

Mephiles, He was the malevolent conscience, mind and will of the sun god Solaris. Mephiles was born during the Solaris Project when the experiments on Solaris split him into Mephiles and Iblis, designed by Duke of Soleanna and Gabriel Agreste was a recurring item throughout the Saw franchise. It was used to inform the victims of Jigsaw's deadly games about the rules and instructions they had to follow in order to survive and in the event of their survival, it would deliver a message of congratulations. Typically Mephiles would appear via video, though occasionally a darkness would appear physically in dramatic fashion, such as riding in on a tricycle or crashing through a window in a cage.
