Synopsis

A retelling of the legend of Mulan but set in Late Imperial Rome, during the barbarian invasions. In this series, Antonia runs away from her abusive relatives who are forcing her to marry a nobleman. Disguised as a boy, she unintentionally joins an assembling Roman army setting out to save the declining Western Empire from the German invaders, with aid from the treacherous Huns.

Description of Empress Eudoxia:

The kind and loving wife of Saturninus. She is deeply annoyed at how weak her husband is and how he could not assert his authority over his subjects. In response, she tries to topple down the corrupt bureaucrats controlling the Western Empire, only to get kidnapped by the sinister bureaucrats. Like Antonia, whom she would eventually befriend, she secretly worships the old Roman gods.
