Richard Dragon was a young thief living in Japan. When he tried to steal a priceless artifact, he was beaten by the sensei. Wanting to learn of martial arts, he was then trained by the sensei, along with another student named Ben Turner. After many years of training, he left them to their own devices, and they were then adopted into the espionage agency G.O.O.D., along with another operative, Sandra Wu-San. They fought crime together, until they decided to part ways, where Richard went back to America. With this, Dragon decided to start fighting crime in America.
