Milo Whitman is at the peak of his career as a sound engineer, celebrated for his keen auditory senses and innovative soundscapes. Living in a sleek high-rise in a sprawling city, he begins to notice a peculiar low-frequency hum that no one else can hear. The noise is persistent, following him everywhere—on the subway, in the streets, and even inside his apartment. It starts as a nuisance, but soon Milo becomes obsessed with tracking down its source. His search leads him to increasingly unsettling discoveries. Other people, seemingly random, begin to hear the sound too, and they all suffer from similar symptoms: headaches, disorientation, and vivid, terrifying hallucinations. Milo's best friend and fellow sound engineer, Lily, tries to convince him to let it go, but Milo is consumed by the need to understand what this sound is and where it comes from. He begins analyzing the hum using high-tech equipment, discovering that it’s not just a random noise—it carries a hidden pattern, a signal embedded in the very fabric of the city. This signal seems to control behavior, influencing the subconscious of those exposed to it for too long. Milo’s investigation takes him to Resonance Dynamics, a massive corporation that controls the city’s communication infrastructure. He believes the company is behind the strange hum, using it as a form of mass control.
