King Frederic becomes gravely ill and appoints Wreck-It Ralph to serve as king regent while he has been on medical leave. Nearing death, he calls in Queen Arianna, Ralph, Merida, Elliot, and Mao Mao to his room to say goodbye. He owes Merida an apology for the mistakes he's made and tells Ralph he is proud to call him son. Frederic also tells them they are next in line for the throne, though Ralph does not want to be king. Then Frederic informs him of his nephew Wilbur Robinson, the only other remaining heir. Frederic takes his last breath and passes away in bed.
