A young Pokémon Trainer named Red from Pallet Town sets out on a journey to become the Pokémon Champion. After receiving their first Pokémon, a newly hatched Bulbasaur, from Professor Oak, Red and Bulbasaur travels across the Kanto region, capturing and training Pokémon, battling other trainers, and defeating the eight Gym Leaders to earn badges. Along the way, they repeatedly cross paths with their rival Blue, Professor Oak’s neglected grandson, who is also striving to become the strongest trainer. As the adventure unfolds, Red and thwarts the schemes of Team Rocket, a criminal organization that exploits Pokémon for profit and power. After conquering all the Gyms and defeating Team Rocket’s boss, Red challenges the Pokémon League at Indigo Plateau. There, they battle the Elite Four and ultimately face Blue once more in a final showdown to claim the title of Pokémon Champion, completing their rise from a novice trainer to the best in Kanto.
