Being a collection of curious adventures and lesser-known doings of Belladonna Took, the boldest gentlehobbit of her age, and some of her kin, told in part by fireside, in part by memory, and some say, in part by moonlight." Within these pages are gathered the tales of Belladonna Took — daughter of the Old Took, mother of Bilbo Baggins, and (if whispers are true) one-time rider of a giant fox, winner of a riddle-game in the Old Forest, and guest at an Entmoot that wasn’t supposed to happen. From the high green hills of Tookland to the dim edges of forgotten Shire-lore, here are the stories she never told her son, and the ones she told too often for anyone to believe.
