Archdeacon Claude Frollo finds a child at the cathedral door one day. Everyone but him feels disgusted with this child. Frollo adopts the deformed boy. He names him Quasimodo and teaches him to speak, read, and write. His younger brother Jehan and a friendly nun Élodie help him. The people of Paris, convinced that little Quasimodo is the devil, decide to kidnap him and burn him at the stake. His foster father will do everything to prevent this from happening.
