John, already 80 years old, is feeling worse and worse every day. He is already so weak that he can hardly get out of bed. He knows his time is coming. Ruth, his beloved wife, who is 62 and still has a long life ahead of her, also knows this. His adopted daughter Ruth, his nephew Noah, Alice-wife of his older brother Jeff, who died two years ago-and his best friends Sally and Sebastian know it. Ruth, therefore, decides that she will do what her parents(who, unlike John's parents-mainly his mother) had no objection to her relationship with an 18-year-old man-she will become his guardian. Together with Eloise(her and John's daughter), and with the help of his friends and family, she will make his last days as good as possible.
