Aaron Boone suffers from recurring nightmares of a subterranean city of monsters known as Midian. After being falsely accused of a string of serial murders, Boone goes on the run and soon discovers that Midian and its inhabitants are very real, and after being gunned down on their doorstep by over-zealous police and subsequently reawakening in the morgue, he is accepted into their society as one of them. Pursued by the police, his manipulative psychotherapist Dr. Phillip Decker, and his girlfriend Lori who refuses to believe he is guilty of the murders, Boone finds himself caught in the middle of a war brewing between the monsters of Midian and the humans who hate and fear them.
