1 comment on Mortal Kombat III: Invasion

  • modwave2009 Our fighters are back in Earthrealm, with Johnny & Sonya and Liu & KItana as established couples at this point, it has been 5 years. All of a sudden, there is a disturbance... None other than Shao Kahn has returned to conquer Earthrealm, regardless of the Mortal Kombat tournament, now accompanied by a strange woman. She is Sindel, the long-dead Queen of Edenia whose realm Shao Kahn invaded before taking her as his bride. She killed herself to escape this grim fate. Shao Kahn has enlisted the help of the Netherrealm sorcerer Quan Chi to revive her using Shang Tsung's souls, seemingly killing him in the process. Raiden gathers those remaining whose destinies lie with Earthrealm's protection: Kuai Liang, who narrowly escaped becoming a cyborg and is now pursued by his old friends Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke, Hydro and Acid as soulless machines. Kurtis Stryker, an NYPD officer and Johnny Cage's cousin who has no clue what is happening but shares Cage's exceptional fighting skills & Kabal, Stryker's friend and ex-Black Dragon lieutenant who has insider knowledge on Kano, now affiliated with Outworld. The Earthrealm fighters do battle with the Outworld invaders whilst Kitana sneaks into Outworld to seek the help of the Shokan Queen Sheeva, who denounced Shao Kahn after Kintaro's death under his service. During the war, the Cyber Lin Kuei become Outworld-affiliated and Kabal is seriously burnt whilst fighting their leader Sektor. Kano recovers his body, repairs him with cybernetic enhancements provided by the Lin Kuei and seeks to re-recruit him. Kabal refuses and narrowly escapes by using his newfound super speed gained through Outworld's magic. Our heroes regroup and try to hide out and think of a battle plan. Unfortunately, the five Cyber Lin Kuei arrive accompanied by Sindel and ambush them. Numerous casualties ensue as Sindel, who Kitana recognises as her mother, kills Stryker, Kung Lao and Jade. The rest narrowly escape and decide to scatter. Liu Kang, seeing the death of his best friend, gives up and makes a long journey to the New Mexican deserts where he encounters a lone Native American tribesman by the name of Nightwolf. He has been observing Liu Kang's efforts through the Great Spirit of the Matoka tribe and agrees to teach Liu Kang an ancient technique known as the Animality, in which one channels their spirit animal to release their true power. Liu Kang's fiery chi allows him to access his fiery dragon form which inspires him to return to his allies and bring the fight to Shao Kahn. Our heroes, accompanied by Sheeva and the Shokan attack the Kahn's fortress en-masse, doing battle against his armies of Tarkatans and Centaurians. After a hefty battle, resulting in the deaths of Baraka, Motaro and Johnny Cage, the remaining kombatants confront Shao and Sindel. Kitana, realising what her mother has become, tearfully kills her before Liu Kang defeats Shao Kahn, seemingly once and for all... The Kahn is suddenly devoured by a giant green cobra Animality. It turns out Shang Tsung and Quan Chi had teamed up behind Shao Kahn's back to usurp him as the Deadly Alliance. Liu Kang clashes with Shang Tsung, utilising his Animality to it's fullest. Unfortunately, it seems that Shang Tsung's Animality is more powerful and comes within an inch of Liu's life. Suddenly, Nightwolf, in his blue wolf Animality form joins Liu Kang and the two finish off Shang Tsung for good. The heroes celebrate as the invasion of Earthrealm reverses and Kitana becomes the new Kahn of Outworld, promising to rule fairly and true. Whilst the heroes continue their festivities Quan Chi, who narrowly escaped Shang Tsung's defeat, reports to his shadowy master in the Netherrealm... The fallen Elder God Shinnok...
