A 40-year old hard core and determined British JSDF captain and the main protagonist of this film. He initially despises monsters and believes they are a threat to humanity and must be exterminated. The reason he is the way he is because 20 years prior to the events of this movie when he was just a young jet pilot he and his friend Mark Matthews attempted to capture and round up Godzilla for Monster Island but his friend was killed and eaten by Godzilla leading to a Captain Ahab and Moby Dick dynamic between him and Godzilla (but he is not obsessive with Godzilla like Ahab was with Moby Dick) but at the end of the story, he learns to coexist with them.
