Synopsis

"Midsummer" is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic tale of love, jealousy, and comedic confusion. Set in the summer of 1997 in Dublin, Ireland, the story follows 21-year-old Mia Caloway, who is torn between her love for her boyfriend, Xander Byrne, and preserving her family legacy. Mia's father, who does not approve of Xander's status as an "Irish Commoner," arranges a courtship between her and Damien Worthurst, a young man from an upper-class family. Mia's best friend Elena Vitocotti also faces dilemmas with Damien, who is now pursuing Mia. Mia's brother Peter and his amateur theatre troupe, T-MATC, prepare for a dark comedy adaptation of a story for his grandparents' 50th anniversary celebration. However, the production faces challenges such as the absence of two company members, interference from Peter's uncle and cousins, and the disappearance of a key member. The story explores themes of love, ambition, and familial loyalty, with a comedic and heartfelt reimagining of Shakespeare's classic.

The fun-loving uncle of Mia and her brothers, Phineas adds a comedic touch and perspective on his older brother Edgar's dilemmas; In charge of organizing his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary party and will serve as master of ceremonies; Owns and runs a network of commercial radio stations across Northwest England and has experience as a radio show host and TV personality; Interferes in his nephew’s stage production by requesting that he’d “turn down the violence”, much to Peter’s annoyance
