Luther Manning was a good police officer in the distant future. When he was murdered in a shootout, the megacorporation Roxxon Energy purchased his corpse. They would rebuild Luther better, stronger, faster, and under direct orders to protect the innocent and uphold the law. Thus, Deathlok was born.
