Raised in a small Slovakian village, Ivan Vanko’s father was killed in what was believed to be a CIA assassination. Swearing revenge on the United States, Ivan used his father’s blueprints to create a suit of armor powered by an Arc Reactor and a pair of namesake weapons- earning himself the name Whiplash.
