Alexandra Ridgemont, a 17 year old schizophrenic, transferred to the rival of her former school, East Shoal. Throughout her time at East Shoal, she was determined to keep her mental health hidden from her fellow classmates. When her secret gets leaked by Celia Hendricks to the entire school, Alex freaks out and runs away from school. With the help of her friends and family, she accepted that everyone knew a part of her she didn’t like showing, and returned to school. Through the remainder of the school year Alex faced many challenges. Things like the harsh realization that her sister was just a hallucination, and nearly dying from a falling scoreboard. Alex agrees, after months of her mother and therapist trying to convince her, to go to a mental hospital the day of graduation. After multiple weeks at Woodlands, Miles Richter brings her back home, and her story ends with the author leaving us to wonder whether any of this was real...
